Him being shot had nothing to do with his talent. I guess im on your turf so negative me away but John Lennon vs. Ashcroft as a musician?? Not even close. As a songwriter, I’d say we have a draw.

Lennon was overrated. If he wasn’t shot, people wouldn’t reckon so much of him

@WKaliberr I like rich but thats quite a stretch my friend.

This takes me right back to the days when i was 17 and listening to this incredible album, this was always my fave song. Used to play this on the guitar up the school field whilst getting hammered on some dodgy cider with all the girls n boys, grrrreat days!!

Early Verve pisses on everything else… Fuck Urban Hymns, although it is a cracking record! Still doesn’t compare to the epic drug fucked sounds of their E.P or Storm in Heaven… Masterpieces!

When you feel hipnotized every time you listen to a song, no matter how many times, you are in front of a masterpiece. This song is an example of it. Ashcroft can´t be compared.

your obviously not a proper verve fan cause if you were youd know that before urban hyms ALL verve songs were wrtiten by the band as a result of jam sessions.check the writing credits on the albums.the verves best stuff is the stuff they wrote as a band. lifes an ocean. northern soul. come one. all in the mingd. all wrote by the band from jam ssessions.and no, urban hyms was not wrote entirly by richard.check your song writing credits idiot.

  17. GBfan006 Says:

well ashcroft wrote the majority of UH, but some of the best songs, in my opinion (come on, the rolling people) and to a much lesser extent “neon wilderness” were written by the band as a whole, NW written by McCabe
  18. pokepoop Says:

urban hymns was a verve album. ashcroft wrote all of it, as he did the other albums the verve have done.
